John Jeffrey Velasco		  

Jeff is a pastoral worker, theology professor, and tour guide.
He has taught Theology at the University of Santo Tomas and De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and Math at the Ateneo Grade School.
He is also a member of the pioneer batch of the Department of Tourism's Mabuhay Guides.
He has been Worship Coordinator, Liturgist, Master of Ceremonies, and Youth Director of the Parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Project 8, Quezon City). He is also a member of the Pastoral Team of the Diocesan Ministry for Liturgical Affairs of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cubao. He helps out in the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission of Manila and the CBCP Episcopal Commission on Liturgy. His name appears on the new English Roman Missal. He attends the National Meeting of Diocesan Directors of Liturgy. He gives talks and formation seminars on liturgy and youth ministry and has vast experience conducting recollections, retreats and youth camps.
Jeff finished elementary and secondary education at La Salle Greenhills, graduated with a BA in Humanities from the Ateneo de Manila University and is currently completing his MA in Liturgy from San Beda College.

The Mabuhay Guides


 

The Mabuhay Guides Training Program was envisioned by Secretary Ace Durano of the Philippines' Department of Tourism to produce select guides and tour leaders who would present the country in the best light to travelers, business investors, and tourism partners.

The six-week course consisted of on-site trainings conducted by lecturers from the London Blue Badge. A Blue Badge is the British national standard guiding qualification. It is recognized internationally as a benchmark of excellence. 

The Mabuhay Guides have provided services for foreign dignitaries including heads of states, members of parliament, and ambassadors. They have also been tapped by the Department of Tourism and its various sub-agencies for familiarization tours for tour operators. Schools have also hired them for field trips. Individuals, couples, families and groups of friends have  also availed of their services.
